Of course, all in Parody form.. ICE ROAD TRUCKING is something I have been discussing with my friends for years in the Radio Control hobby. Some of our viewers know that I like to "spoof" TV shows and bring them to reality in an RC world. Well, until today.. there has been no really way to bring it to the public. Conditions have to be PERFECT for it to work.. and thankfully after many years of waiting - today it was perfect.
#1 - My truck has locked differentials. ALL the time. This is not optional and makes concrete and asphalt driving difficult with a heavy loaded trailer. Usually I would use a Jeep (dolly) for heavy loads. Well, since I am hitting the ice road today.. the locked differentials come in very handy. Also, having the proper tires helps a great deal. I know, I know... "I should have some chains".. but again.. work better in theory than in practice with these smaller 1/14th scale trucks.
I am pulling a heavy trailer today. Approximately 40 lbs. In full size.. a trommel trailer will weigh in at about 49,000lbs.. or 22,000 Kilos. Either way.. a SUPER Heavy Load.
Normally the Canal I was driving on today is covered in snow.. and wind swept. The temperature is usually too cold also.. but today.. Mint. So.. out came the truck and trailer.. and I got loading. Then the PULL WAS ON! Don't worry.. the ice is 3 inches thick.. and only 3 inches of water under that..
