Hollywood loses yet another bright star and his co-stars react to the tragic news. Star Trek star Anton Yelchin is remembered by his co-stars who they called their “little brother”. News of Anton Yelchin’s death sent shockwaves through Hollywood and his Star Trek family quickly took to social media to pay tribute to their fallen comrade. Yelchin, who was just 27, passed away early Sunday when his car slid backwards and pinned him against a brick pillar and security fence. The young star was on his way to meet friends for a rehearsal and when he didn’t show up, they went to his house where they found him deceased. News of his untimely death quickly spread and his Star Trek family took to social media to share their thoughts on the tragic loss of their co-star and friend. John Cho, who was perhaps closest to Anton, tweeted out, “I love Anton Yelchin so much. He was a true artist – curious, beautiful, courageous. He was a great pal and a great son. I’m in ruins.” Zachary Quinto took to Instagram to say that Anton was quote, “One of the most open and intellectually curious people I have ever had the pleasure to know. So enormously talented and generous of heart. Wise beyond his years and gone before his time.” Karl Urban also took to Instagram to remember Anton, posting a picture of the pair along with John Cho. Of his co-star, Urban said quote, “Anton was such a beautiful, gentle soul. He sought out new life experience with an unabated passion. He was edgy, incredibly talented and beautifully knowledge. His smile was radiant and mischievous. Truly an old soul in a young man’s body. He was a loving son. My heart, thoughts and prayers are with Anton’s family. I’m devastated. Godspeed you gorgeous man.” Zoe Saldana tweeted out, “Devastated by our friend's loss. We are mourning his passing and celebrating the beautiful spirit that he was.” While co-star Simon Pegg showed his support by tweeting out a personal photo of his late friend. Sofia Boutella, who stars alongside Anton in next month’s Star Trek Beyond also took to Twitter to say of her co-star quote, “Anton Yelchin was 1 of the brightest, most inquisitive, loving, special & unique person I've ever met, I loved him so much. I am in pieces.” Star Trek Beyond director Justin Lin also took to Twitter to express his shock of the news tweeting out, “Rest in peace, Anton. Your passion and enthusiasm will live on with everyone that had the pleasure of knowing you.” Anton’s original Star Trek director, J.J. Abrams, tweeted out this hand written note to Anton saying quote, “You were brilliant…You were funny as hell, and supremely talented. And you weren’t here nearly long enough.” In a separate letter, Abrams spoke for the entire Star Trek family releasing the following statement: “Anton was our little brother. But only by years; he was as wise and clever and intellectually curious as anyone we ever knew. His laugh was preposterous – you couldn’t hear it and not laugh yourself. He was funny, edgy, wild and talented beyond measure. His focus and dedication was admirable, as was his love of family, friends, literature and music. We loved Anton, at work or at play. We are all shocked and numb and devastated by the world’s loss of an extraordinary young man. To his family, we send you our love during this impossible time. We will miss Anton forever.” I’m Danielle Robay, from all of us here at Clevver, we send our thoughts to Anton’s friends, family and fellow fans.
