Universal Studios has made their decision about the future of Paul Walker's character in future Fast films and we have those details and more. We are sure that it hasn't been an easy couple of months for the folks over at Universal who are not only trying to cope with the loss of a dear friend but who are also trying to make the right decision about how to move forward with Fast and Furious 7. When Walker was killed in that devastating car crash back in November, he had only shot about half of his scenes for the new movie and in the wake of his death the decision makers were torn about how to handle the future of Walker's character, Brian O'Conner. After pouring over the previously shot Fast 7 footage, it seems as though first time Fast director James Wan, screenwriter Chris Morgan, and Universal's lead exec Jeffrey Kirschenbaum have decided that they will NOT have Brian O'Conner die in the movie, but they will instead have him retire. According to The Hollywood Reporter the creative team will rewrite parts of the script so that the scenes Walker shot can be used (so we will see his performance in the movie) but they will have to significantly change the direction of the story. Being that it's such a sensitive topic, I think fans will appreciate not seeing O'Conner die in the film but it does make us wonder how much of Walker will we see? Will it be significant? And will all of the work that he put into Fast 7 be honored and shown? Also, many are wondering about that this will mean for Jordana Brewster's character, who played O'Conner's love interest. Will she still be involved as heavily if O'Conner's screen time is limited? Well, we certainly wont know for sure until April 10th, 2015 when Fast & Furious 7 hits theaters. However, until then, are you pleased with the decision of having Brian O'Conner retire in Fast 7?
