Preparation at Murghab Horse Festival - Tajikistan 4K Travel Channel

The annual At Chabysh Festival, also known as Murghab Horse Festival, is organized by the French Embassy, the Christensen Fund, and the Kyrgyz Ate Foundation. One celebrates Kyrgyz horsemanship and traditions with horse races and games.
Kyrgyz Ate is a Kyrgyz NGO, founded in 2004 by Jacqueline Ripart in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan). She developed an extensive program with the aim of preserving and rehabilitating the Kyrgyz horse and its closely related traditions in the agricultural sector, as well as in the fields of culture, sport, tourism, and crafts within the framework of economic and socially sustainable development.
Some French visitors tell us that Jacqueline Ripar, the initiator of the At Chabysh Festival, did not receive a visa this year, as it is a Kyrgyz event that one doesn't promote in Tajikistan. In principle, this is to be understood, but one could also have turned a blind eye since in the Pamir the majority of the population is of Kyrgyz descent. The traditional costumes and especially the headgear show that one is proud of one's Kyrgyz descent.
On arrival at the festival ground, the competition has not started yet. But one is busy preparing food, and a veterinarian examines the horses. Other participants check the saddles and bridles or talk to friends.
Later are some short speeches, music, and dancing. Even the little ones are already experienced dancers. The closer the competition comes, the more riders move their horses to warm up for the competition.
The importance of this festival can be seen at the people. One can literally feel the tension and nervousness in the air. Many children wait impatiently. They all wear traditional costumes or at least better clothes. Of course, the locals eyeball the foreign guests, like we study the local people.

Das jährlich stattfindende „ At Chabysh“ Festival, auch Murghab Horse Festival genannt, wird von der Französischen Botschaft, dem Christensen Fund und der Foundation Kyrgyz Ate ausgerichtet. Hier feiert man die kirgisische Reitkunst und Traditionen mit Pferderennen und Spielen.
"Kyrgyz Ate" ist eine kirgisische NGO, die 2004 von Jacqueline Ripart in Bischkek (Kirgisistan) gegründet wurde. Sie entwickelte ein umfangreiches Programm, dessen Ziele die Erhaltung und Rehabilitierung des kirgisischen Pferdes und der ihm eng verbundenen Traditionen im Agrarsektor, wie auch in den Bereichen Kultur, Sport, Tourismus und Handwerk im Rahmen einer wirtschaftlichen und sozialen nachhaltigen Entwicklung.
Einige französische Besucher erzählen uns, dass Jacqueline Ripar, die Initiatorin des At Chabysh Festivals in diesem Jahr kein Visium bekommen hat, da es sich um eine Kirgisische Veranstaltung handelt, die man in Tadschikistan nicht promotet. Grundsätzlich ist dies zu verstehen, doch hätte man auch ein Auge zudrücken können, da im Pamir die Bevölkerung mehrheitlich Kirgisischer Abstammung ist. An den Trachten und vor allem Kopfbedeckungen kann man rasch erkennen, dass man auf seine kirgisische Abstammung stolz ist.
Bei unserer Ankunft hat noch kein Wettbewerb begonnen, sondern man ist damit beschäftigt Essen zuzubereiten, die Pferde für den Wettkampf vom Tierarzt untersuchen zu lassen, die Sättel und Zaumzeuge zu überprüfen oder sich mit Freunden zu unterhalten.
Später werden einige kurze Reden gehalten, Musik gemacht und getanzt. Auch die Kleinen sind schon routinierte Tänzer und Tänzerinnen. Je näher der Wettkampf rückt, umso mehr Reiter bewegen ihre Pferde um sich für den Wettkampf aufzuwärmen.
Den Stellenwert dieses Festivals kann man den Menschen ansehen. Die Spannung und Nervosität in der Luft ist förmlich zu spüren. Viele Kinder warten ungeduldig. Alle haben ebenfalls Trachten oder zumindest bessere Kleidung an. Natürlich werden die fremden Gäste genau gemustert, genau so wie wir die einheimischen Menschen studieren.
