20 40 Mile Attempt with Epic Crash and Recovery Ft Spec Uav Lotus 1280

The Team Decided to Put the Spec-Uav Lotus 1280 to the Test. What better way to test it other than breaking our current 12 mile record. the original goal was 20 mile out and 20 miles back. We arrived to the desert where we could be away from civilization and not endanger the general public or property.We got setup early and were ready for launch. A pre flight check revealed an aileron servo Acting up. By the time we figured the servo actual was bad and it wasn't a wiring issue it was around 10am. We launched the plane and about 30 mins into our flight the Santa Ana Winds picked up. We drifted 60 degrees to the west of our original heading. We reached 22.8 miles away and turned back. It was a hell of a ride on the way back fighting cross winds and 25mph gusts. We had to make an Emergency Landing which ended in disaster. We then Set out to find the Aircraft.
The Spec-Uav Lotus Performed exceptionally and will now be our goto antenna. We Reached just over 6 miles with a set of Lotus antennas. and 22.8 miles paired with the pepperbox.
