Lisa Gade reviews the HTC One A9 Android smartphone. The A9 is available as an unlocked phone that works on both GSM and CDMA networks with 4G LTE, and there are carrier versions as well. The A9 is $499 in the US for the unlocked edition sold direct by HTC (carriers and other countries may have higher price tags). This is a better than midrange phone with a 5” AMOLED 1920 x 1080 display, octa-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon 617 CPU with Adreno 405 graphics and 3 gigs of RAM and 32 gigs of storage plus a microSD card slot.
It’s the first non-Nexus phone to ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and it runs a light version of HTC Sense software. The phone bears a striking resemblance to the iPhone 6s, and it’s slim and comfy for small hands as is the iPhone. It has a good 13MP rear camera with 1080p video recording, a front UltraPixel camera, dual band WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, NFC and a GPS with GLONASS.
