The MJX Bugs 3 Pro is a brushless GPS camera drone. I'll show you how to use your own action camera; and my recommendations for buying, expectations, and using this drone. This review is very long (~25 minutes) but if you're serious about considering it, you will learn a lot about how the drone performs, using your own action camera with it, pitfalls to avoid... and in the end, you can make an informed purchase (or not).

───── Positive: ─────
■ 10 to 12 solid minutes of flight time with a 4k or 1080p action camera is great.
■ GPS functions work very well; no problems with RTH, losing GPS at all, it's very reliable.
■ Provides a clean regulated 5v USB power source for a your GoPro Hero 4 Black or FireFly 8s camera and anything else.
■ Remote controller is easy to use and very well labeled. No button is a mystery.
■ At a basic level, this drone appears to be generally bug-free and does not have any critical issues with core flight properties.
■ Can shut the GPS function off at any time and sport-fly without it if you want (but it's not really any faster).
■ Don't need to be a drone expert to use it; due to the alttitude hold and GPS functions it nearly "flies itself." A kid could fly this with no prior experience. ** However, for safety reasons, I still recommend flying with a toy-grade brushed drone micro before using any brushless model.
■ The version of the drone WITHOUT the MJX 1080p camera -- which is what I'd recommend buying -- is ~$130 USD which is an ok price and hard to beat.
───── Negative: ─────
□ Proprietary battery, to charge it with a hobby-grade charger will require minimal soldering skills to the adapter. Battery benefits no one but MJX as it's not a smart battery. (** Mod the battery charge adapter how-to: **)
□ Altitude is capped at 150m and this cannot be changed! MJX has made this choice to be nanny for you. Also: when battery % is less than or equal to 50% indicated on the remote, if you are above 100m, auto RTH + RTL is triggered and you can't cancel it either, so be careful.
□ You have to calibrate the compass every flight. It doesn't take long, but other models can remember their compass calibration.
□ MJX mandates that you use their camera to utilize their app, since the wifi network is in the camera and not the drone.
□ Although you can use your own action camera such as a GoPro Hero 4 Black or FireFly 8S camera with the included mount, but you need to take the battery out due to the weight, or the bugs shakes violently.
□ The stock MJX camera's colors are washed out, and the "1080p" quality is low, not worth the over $200 price tag for it.
───── Follow-up Notes: ─────
It's been pointed out to me that the compass calibration in the manual states "head up" when you do it vertically. It appears to not matter. I tested with heads up and down and there is no difference, including follow-me mode.
