In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew demonstrates how to connect the new FLIR Duo into a conventional, analog 5.8 GHz First-Person View (FPV) video transmission system, using RQCX-3 Raven as an example. The procedure requires permanent alterations to the bench cable, which arrives with the Duo. The first step involves cutting of the USB connector, removing the data high and data low cables and connecting the remaining power cables to an appropriate adapter for your aircraft, such as a JST. Be aware that the Duo can accept between 5v and 26v, and incorporates reverse polarity protection. Next, remove the head of the RCA connector and replace it with a servo connector or whichever type of connector is required to deliver the signal to your video transmitter. Finally, connect the PWM leads to your aircraft's control receiver, so that you will be able to control camera functions in flight, such as display modes and color palettes.
