New Suicide Squad Plot Details Revealed

We’ve got new details on the plot of Suicide Squad coming to you right now! Think you know everything there is about this summer’s Suicide Squad? Guess again! The release of next month’s Suicide Squad has quickly become one of the most highly anticipated movies of the summer and now, thanks to a new Entertainment Weekly cover story, we’re getting some new details about the film’s plot. Director David Ayer revealed to the magazine that he is definitely feeling the pressure as the hype for the film continues to grow, especially after the mostly negative response to Batman v Superman earlier this year. He explained quote, “All of the attention has swung onto it, and it has to carry a lot more weight than it was ever intended to. I think it can sustain it, but it’s a lot of pressure. You definitely feel the pressure.” While we’ve known for some time that the film will focus on a group of imprisoned villains tasked with taking on dangerous, black-ops missions for the government in exchange for commuted sentences, we now know that their first mission out of the gate will be to capture Cara Delevingne’s possessed archaeologist, “Enchantress”. Once a more powerful force threatens Midway City, home to heroes Hawkman and Hawkgirl in the comics, the team is sent in to take it down. In the comics, Suicide Squad mastermind “Amanda Waller”, played by Viola Davis in the film, implants explosive devices in their heads to keep them in line and the same tactic will be utilized in the film. As for where Waller gets these devices - Wayne Enterprises, of course! While Waller is the brains behind the Squad, Joel Kinnaman’s “Rick Flag” is the team’s leader on the ground and while many assumed Karen Fukuhara’s “Katana” would be a criminal member of the group, it turns out she’s actually one of Flag’s enforcers. As for Jared Leto’s “Joker”, his motivation in the film is to reunite with his “true love” Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie. In addition to the routine, “save the world from a giant threat” plot, the film promises to also explore the humanity of the characters as they attempt to seek redemption for their crimes. So, it sounds like Suicide Squad may actually have a chance to live up to the hype when it arrives in theaters on August 5th, but what do you think, are you excited for what you know about the film so far?
