Javier Bardem has edged out both Christian Bale and Viggo Mortensen for the role of Roland in Ron Howards film adaptation of Stephen King's Novel "The Dark Tower!"
Director Ron Howard may have had something to do with it, he apparently pushed for Bardem to get the antihero.
The Horror-fantasy- western is currently being planned as a big screen trilogy as well as a TV Series.
In other Tower casting news, Dexter's Jennifer Carpenter is rumored to be on the short list of candidates to play Susannah Dean. The film is currently scheduled for release on May 17th 2013.
