In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew speaks with Shawn Spiker from Hitec Commercial Solutions about the company's two new fixed-wing drones designed for a variety aerial mapping and surveying missions using interchangeable payloads. The XENO FX is a small, foldable platform capable of flying for approximately one hour at about 30 miles per hour. The user hand launches the XENO FX, which incorporates a Safety Launch system, which prevents the propeller from beginning to spin before it has been released from the user's hand. The Quantum Systems Trinity is a Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) platform, capable of carrying the same payloads as the XENO FX. Payloads include the Mapir Survey3 Camera, the Parrot Sequoia Multispectral Camera, the Mapir Dual Kernel Camera and the Mapir Single Kernel Camera. Flights are planned and executed using a tablet-based app, Hitec Mission Control.
