The Mini brand is owned by BMW and this new Countryman platform was the first co-developed platform with BMW. The Mini Countryman shares the same underpinnings and one engine with the BMW X1. The Mini Countryman small utility vehicle is a 5-passenger model and sold as a base Cooper, Cooper S and a John Cooper Works performance model. The base model is sold with a manual or automatic, front wheel drive or all wheel drive. This car is sold with a 136hp 1.5L turbo 3-cylinder engine. The Cooper S Countryman is sold with a 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder with 192hp an the John Cooper Works Countryman shares the same 228hp 2.0L turbo found in the BMW X1.
