The recent Tomb Raider games have a grittier, more realistic approach to Lara's struggle to survive against the odds, apart from the bit where she fights the giant zombie samurai.
Although it is demonstrably cool to fight trained mercenaries and angry bears, we can't help but remember fondly the days when Lara faced off with less explicable enemies. Her evil self, for instance, which was her with more eyeliner, or a teenage boy on a skateboard.
