After the 1st part of modding my Taranis X9D Plus, I went ahead and ordered a hydrodipped shell.
I haven't tried to hydrodip myself and I don't currently have the time to familiarize with the techniques required for a good result. So a ready-made shell was the next best option. This also leaves me with the stock shell for future experimentation (painting, DIY hydrodipping etc).
Removing the stock shell and transferring the internals into the new one is pretty much straight forward. Just take your time, as well as a few photos during the disassembly, so that you easily figure out what goes where.
The end result looks great and I already have in mind some more things that will follow.
I also added a small twist..(literally).. Since I am not using an external Tx module, I decided to install the transmitter handle backwards. This results in a sleeker look and a lower profile overall, perfect for transmitter cases (I also add gimbal stick protectors when I pack it in a case).
This is QUICK GUIDE: Taranis mods #2 - Hydrodipped shell swap for the FrSky Taranis X9D. Let's go!
