I have done several videos with this release lately which includes long write ups in the description box. But to sum it up here:
- The Tamiya Levant was released in 2009.
- It is based on the 4WD TB-01 chasssis and the Dual Hunter body and comes w/ full ball bearings, oil filled CVA shocks etc.
- It was Tamiya's first RTR (XB) model w/ their first brushless combo: the TBLM-01 and the TBLE-01.
- Apparently it was an attempt to get into the popular brushless Monster/Stadium Truck/Truggy scene at that time.
- It never gained any big popularity though: A guess at why, would be the combination of the price, the 16T brushless motor and low gearing which left the Levant a bit on the slow and pricey side compared to other models.
- This year, nine years after it's initial release, it seems one of the biggest distributers of Tamiya in the EU sold off their entire stock, which has left the European market with very favorable priced Tamiya Levants on sale.
This brand new Levant is running with old NiMH batteries in this video. I'm afraid these where the only pre-charged batteries I had, when I suddenly got an unexpected moment to go out for a Tamiya Run. The life of a working father. You have to take what you can get. But I still had fun. Please check out the Levant Speed Test in my channel to see it running on a 2S LiPo.
