Whenever you fly an RC model plane by FPV there is always the risk of something going wrong.
In this video I show some of the basic preparation and points to watch, with special emphasis on ensuring you don't create incidents with full-sized aircraft.
This video is also the test-flight for the RMILEC long-range UHF system and I'm afraid the results were far from impressive. As you can see, the RC link was lost at a distance of 1Km and was only restored when I raised the transmitter high over my head and climbed the model to around 200 feet. I would have expected far better performance from a "long range" system, especially given that I have flown this exact same route with my 2.4GHz system and experienced no problems at all.
It is possible that there was some source of 433MHz noise located in the sheds you see below but even if this was the case, it would show very poor interference resistance on the part of the RMILEC.
I did risk one more flight with the RMILEC system and suffered lock-outs at about 700m.
