Well known British actor Bob Hoskins has died from pneumonia at the age of 71. The Bafta and Golden Globe-winning actor died peacefully in hospital last night, surrounded by his family. His family have said in a statement they are "devastated" by their loss. Hoskins suffered from Parkinson's disease in the later years of his life, causing him to retire from acting in 2012. Born in Bury St Edmunds in 1942, he landed his first roles in TV and films in the mid-1970s, later enjoying a career that spanned four decades. On the small screen, he appeared in shows like Play for Today, On the Move and BBC drama The Street. Best known for hit movies including Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Mona Lisa, Hook and Made in Dagenham, he has been one of Britain's most beloved actors with a hugely established career. His last film role was in 2012's Snow White and the Huntsman, alongside Kristen Stewart. Leading figures in the industry have quickly taken to Twitter to pay tribute, with Stephen Fry describing him as a "marvellous man" and actor Nick Frost tweeting he was "An Actors actor and a gentleman to boot." Report by Claire Lomas.
