See Vortex 250 saving 31gr weight, my new FPV backpack/Trolley, when to change motors, and find out why I crashed...

►Vortex 250 Tips:
Race Stage1 - saves you 31gr (not advertised 40gr)
Motorarms (13 to 10gr each) 4x3=12gr savingds
Camplate (9 to 7gr) 2gr saving
Top-plate (31 to 25gr) 6gr less
all changed screws ~ 9gr saved (and better durability!)
math. total of 29gr (my scale then showed 31gr - rounding...)
In my stats I dont see drastical changes in efficiency. Handly maybe feels better, more acro. But not sure if I would find this on a blind test :)
►Motor care / how sound does your motor sound?
I test the bearings by spinning motors by finger and listen to sound it should sound ok or else your motor could fail
So I changed a motor (before it would fail) and the next day after 6 good flights exactly this motor failed (but it could as well be the prop on it)
►Prop selection?
what do you Vortex250 guys fly?
I suspect the DYS 5x4.5x3blade glassfiber/nylon ones exploded in midair and cause a crash - but not sure.
►Groundstation Evolution:
I like to be able to carry all I need on my backpack - so I have hands free. Not important if you can fly next to your car - but cool for hike and FPV sessions (not often but gives access to cool spots!).
Used normal "Laptop" Bag with lots of space for Taranis and Batteries and stuff. Switched now to Trolley/Backpack with some great features:
Ikea Trolley
Has space for Taranis Bag (11$ on HK: ), "handle bar" - telecope thingy for antenna placement, I use a gorilla tripod ontop this
This trolly also can be used as backpack!
Downside: it's heavy...
►Crash analysis:
- left front motor was changed before flights ('cause the bearings didnt sound good). Soldering looked ok and this motor still worked after the crash.
- all motor-bearings did sound good before this flight!
- ALL motors / ESCs are still working after the crash (no ESC burned)
- it was no RC failsafe, no link loss (would have seen that on OSD)
- you can hear a disturbing sound - like a prop broke?
when this happend in the air, the copter changed attitude: leaning slight fwd. and left. I think this means the LEFT front prop/motor/ESC stopped working
Could this have been an explosion of the prop?
I used DYS 3bladed 5x4.5 (quite stiff - but all quite new, only right prop slight damage). Right front prop was maybe damaged 5 flights before (chipped over a tent-peg on my landing pad, but saw no real damage only little dents on the leading edge)
On the crash site (copter crashed upside down, some motors kept spinning and lost all their blades (I found them)
I didnt find 3 blades (from one prop) - so I think I lost them in the air...
