Here's an overview of the best U.S. smartphone carriers among the major four AT&T vs. Verizon vs. Sprint vs. T-Mobile. This video can help you choose the right carrier for your next smartphone purchase so you get the best coverage and data plan. Don't forget to share it with your friends and family who are thinking about purchasing new smartphones!
Current Best Coverage Ranking based on my experience here in SF Bay Area (results may vary depending on where you live)
#1. AT&T = Supports 4G LTE, HSPA+, 3G, and 2G
#2. Verizon = Supports 4G LTE, 3G, and 2G
#3. Sprint = Supports 4G LTE, 3G and 2G (No 4G LTE where I live yet but should be here soon.)
#4. T-Mobile = Supports HSPA+, 3G, and 2G (I drop down to 2G Edge whenever I am indoors and I never get 3G, it makes make phone useless indoors where I don't have WiFi.)
Choosing the best U.S. carrier ultimately depends on what kind of coverage you get and also how you use your smartphone.
If you are a data-hogger who streams a lot of data like movies and radio, definitely go with some type of unlimited plan even if that means you are stuck on 3G.
If you are a light web surfer who barely goes over 2GB per month, definitely go with AT&T or Verizon's 4G LTE (or even Sprint if you live in Sprint 4G LTE area).
Also there are 3rd tier networks you can try for unlimited but remember they "rent" their network from the major 4 networks.
