In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew reviews the Wingsland S6 selfie drone. The folding drone is controlled using a smart phone app available for either the Android or iOS operating system and transmits video back to the pilot on the their device. The camera has a fixed angle and is capable of capturing 4K video and 13 megapixel still photographs. Video and images are recorded on a MicroSD card, which is not included with the kit. The video is not stabilized, so aircraft maneuvering will result in shaky video. Also, the batteries seem especially susceptible to cold temperatures, significantly impacting flight time in cool weather. The S6 includes an accessory port, allowing the user to mount a flashlight, emoji board and a pellet gun to the aircraft. It also incorporates a GPS receiver for intelligent flight modes, as well as ultrasonic sensors for altitude detection, as well as an optical flow camera for position hold.
