In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew tries out the Epson Moverio BT-300 FPV (Drone) edition, which works with DJI drones, including the Inspire, Phantom and Mavic. Developed to provide a Heads-Up Display (HUD) for drone pilots, the Moverios superimpose a semi-transparent image of the DJI Go app over the pilot's natural view: providing access to telemetry and the video downlink while maintaining a visual line of sight (VLOS) with the aircraft. The glasses connect via a proprietary cable to a control unit, which includes a touch pad as well as a control wheel. The Moverios run a customized version of the Android OS compatible with the DJI Go and DJI Go 4 apps, and can provide Augmented Reality (AR) capabilities across a range of other applications. The glasses also include a video camera, to capture the perspective of the wearer.
