Today we’re looking at the Hubsan X4 H107D FPV Quadcopter. Now the Hubsan X4 H107D Quadcopter comes in several different flavors and is an extremely popular quadcopter for beginners. The Hubsan X4 H107D model is the FPV or First Person View version, which comes with a built-in camera that transmits a live video feed to the transmitter. Now right off the bat, we don’t recommend the Hubsan X4 H107D as your first quadcopter. We suggest getting a less expensive version of the Hubsan X4 H107D FPV Quadcopter and learning how to fly, before moving on to this version.
The Hubsan X4 H107D measures about 5.75 inches from propeller tip to propeller tip and has a body that’s made from plastic. Like all X4’s, it has four brushed Dc motors with colored directional LED’s on each motor arm. It has a standard definition, 720 x 240, camera embedded on the front and 5.8GHZ video transmitter antenna protruding from its undercarriage. The prop guard can be taken off to give it a bit more agility, but recommend keeping it on to reduce damage to the rest of the craft when you crash. And talking about crashes, the 107D is extremely durable. It can take tons of hard crashes and always comes back for more. What you’d mostly end up breaking is propellers so, make sure to keep plenty of them in stock. You can also buy a crash pack that comes with all the parts you might end up breaking during a crash. I’ll put links to all those items in the description below. Its 380MAH battery slides into the the belly of this tiny beast and lasts about 4-5 mins depending on how aggressively you fly it. Again, we recommend getting a spare set of batteries to increase the amount of time you’re in the air with the Hubsan X4 107D.
The X4 H107D’s transmitter seems pretty cheaply built, but the sticks are very usable and gets the job done just fine. The screen on the Hubsan X4 H107D is surprisingly decent and offers a pretty good FPV experience. The screen also displays some very handy information such as battery voltage on both the transmitter and craft. The transmitter also has a SD card slot, in case you want to record the video the craft is transmitting. The video quality is great for FPV flying but we certainly wouldn’t even bother recording the video it streams. The resolution is poor and the video’s size is also a pretty strange 720 x240- not exactly useful for anything. The transmitter is powered by 4AA batteries and is pretty comfortable to hold and view video while flying.
Now setting up to fly the Hubsan X4 H107D is pretty easy. Turn the transmitter on first and wait till the screen displays the Bind to Plane message. Then slide the battery in, plug it into the connector on the back and place the Hubsan X4 H107D on a flat surface. All the LED’s on the craft turn solid and and you’re now ready to fly.
The Hubsan X4 107D Quadcopter is really meant to be a an indoor craft. It can be flown outdoors but it has almost no ability resist even the slightest of a breeze. Its a good idea to calibrate the Hubsan X4, before your first flight. To do this, power the Hubsan X4 H107D on and place it on a flat surface. Then move the left stick to the bottom right hand corner and then move the right stick to the left and right, until the front LEDs blink. This calibrates the Hubsan X4 H107D. When up in the air, the Hubsan X4 H107D is pretty stable for the most part.
